When
Imogen Heap, who is also half of the group Frou
Frou, recorded her breakthrough solo album Speak for
Yourself, she was a solo artist in the strictest sense
of the phrase. She did everything by herself – no backing
musicians, no outside producer, no record label. She's perhaps
the most self-sufficient major artist in music these days
– and absolutely one of the most talented.

got it all: the voice, the instrumental music, the boundless
creativity, the look. You can't call her music pure synthpop
